The BA (Hons) in Business Management aims to produce Industry Specialist Professionals (ISPs); business graduates who have an in-depth practical knowledge about a particular industry...knowledge that would be least expected by an employer of a fresh graduate.

This is a programme for the ambitious; a programme that is going to delight employers when you tell them what you did at Binary University College...the Specialist University for Management and Entrepreneurship. The programme does not just equip you with a sound knowledge of business and entrepreneurship but more importantly places you in a particular industry extensively during the course. For example if you choose to specialize in the Logistic Industry;

- You will be placed in at different logistic companies during your course
- You will be given a series of industry lectures by logistic industry experts
- You will have read a few Great Books on the Logistic Industry
- You will have completed a major project on an issue faced by the Logistic industry
- You will then be awarded the ISP Certificate in the Logistic Industry

When lesser people went to universities and when jobs were aplenty generalists did not have a problem getting jobs even though they had to compete with functional specialists. Today, the job market is highly competitive, it is an employers' world. For every job, there are hundreds of graduates applying. When you enter this degree programme, you will be introduced to general management subjects, but soon you will focus on an industry that you wish to work for. You can choose from a wide area of industries (see industry specialisations). Your assignments and projects will focus on the industry you have chosen to specialise in.

When you enter the tail end of your degree, you will have a clear idea on the companies to focus your job applications to. These companies will be none other than those belonging to the industry you specialized in.

You will be called for interviews by these companies who will find your in-depth knowledge and projects undertaken during your study far more relevant and useful for employment than a general business degree holder from any other university. Thus, you differentiate yourself from all other graduates. You may even be offered a better remuneration because of your specialist knowledge.

Our business and marketing graduates are unique as they are ISP graduates (Industrial Specialist Professionals). As an ISP, you are provided with extensive practical exposure in a specific industry through multiple hands-on projects and assignments. If you look beyond your first 10 years, you have the potential of becoming an Industrial Specialist Expert (ISE); a professional who possess a commanding knowledge and rich experience of a particular industry such that your know-how can be exported globally. You also have the opportunity to set-up your own consultancy firm and offer your services internationally.

Fresh graduates from BA (Hons) in Business Management are expected to start off as management executives or business development managers who can assist in any area related to spurring the growth of a firm. Both the Binary Diploma in Marketing and the BA (Hons) in Marketing aims to produce Industry Specialist Marketers; professionally trained marketing people who have in-depth knowledge of a specific industry. This is a programme for those who are not just interested to be another marketing staff but one who wants to excel in a particular industry. The programme equips one with a sound theoretical base and provides one with substantial practical exposure.

Imagine this.. You and eleven other fresh graduates are being interviewed for a single vacancy in a firm dealing with international fashion wear for men. All of you have a BA (Hons) in Marketing and no working experience. It is your turn now. After asking you all the basic questions, the lead interviewer throws this big one to you; Why do you think you deserve the most to be given this job? Imagine you can give this answer:"I am the only candidate here who knows so much about the fashion industry. I am an ISP and specialized in your industry. I did numerous practical projects involving the fashion industry during my study. Establish in 1911, The Chartered Institution of Marketing (UK) is the world's largest professional marketing body. Graduates from the Binary BA (Hons) in Marketing and the Diploma in Marketing enjoy good exemptions from the CIM and may become members of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) by completing the remaining modules. Graduates can also work towards becoming a Chartered Marketeer.

The Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) is an existing and innovative programme that provides a solid foundation in business management and offers fantastic opportunities to work in a variety of business disciplines.

Upon completion of the programme:
- You will have a holistic understanding of the key areas that drive a business.
- You will also learn to write good reports, make excellent presentations, market product globally, develop sound quality initiatives and work with people effectively.
- You would have completed a broad-based business qualification leaving your career options wide open.

As a graduate of the Diploma in Business Administration, your career options are open to join any industry in any functional area such as Human Resources, Accounts or Marketing. You may want to work for a while before deciding your next study area or you may choose to embark on a specialized degree programme such as the BA (Hons) in Marketing or Accounting by directly entering the second year or pursue a management degree such as the BA (Hons) Business Management. The DBA is the only diagnostic programme that gives you this flexibility to think and experience before deciding your career direction.

Upon completion of the DBA, you may undertake any of the following study routes:

- Two (2) principle passes in STPM or Two (2) A Level Passes or the Foundation in Business Studies / SAM
- Binary's Diploma for entry into Year 2 of the BA (Hons)
- Other equivalent Diplomas for entry into year 1 or 2 (subject to acceptance) of our BA (Hons) programme
- Student must have a minimum of 3 credits in the SPM or 'O' Level to enter the Diploma in Business Administration / Marketing.

Objective of the foundation degree programme is
- To, lay a foundation in your pursuit of a career in Accounting, Business Management or IT.
- To enable you to pursue a degree programme locally or abroad.
- To help you diagnose a wide range of career options.

What Next?
You can pursue a degree in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Mass Communications, Public relation etc. You may pursue these degree programmes at Binary or at our partner universities in the UK or Australia.

- STPM
Assessment is based on a single examination which covers syllabus taught over 24 months of study. This one exam determines your future tertiary education. If you fail, you have to wait 12 months to resit. The only reason one would do STPM is to gain entry into local public universities or fail to get the course you desired to do?

- A-Level
Like STPM, A-Levels assessment is also based upon a single examination. Failure to pass would also mean waiting for about another year to resit. However, the advantage of A-Levels over a STPM is that the duration of the course is shorter i.e. approx 18 months.

- Foundation
Our foundation programme is only 12 months duration. Students are assessed on a continuous basis through assignments, tests, quizzes and an exam just like in a university degree programme. The final examination constitutes only 60% of the total marks. Hence students are better prepared to face university studies in the future as the foundation mirrors what you would encounter at university. You also have the advantage of re-sitting for failed exams within the same semester. This helps you to progress faster into degree programmes.

Route after SPM

A “2+1” option is one where you study 2 years at a Malaysian institution and the final year at an overseas university such as in the UK or Australia. Upon completion of the foundation degree programme at Binary, you may pursue the first and/ or second year of the degree at Binary University College and complete the remainder part at our partner universities in the UK or Australia. Among the reason why students opt for the “2+1” degree are:

- The cost are much lower than to complete the entire degree overseas
- Students get to study in Britain or Australia thus acquiring valuable overseas experience
- Students are awarded the SAME degree by the British/Australian university as if they studied all 3 years overseas
